About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:

Under the direction of the Electrical Superintendent, the Electrical General Foreman ensures the good maintenance practices of the team under his / her supervision in terms of the preventive, corrective maintenance, as well as playing a key role in the execution and follow up of the performed maintenance duties and ensuring safety regulations compliance. In collaboration with the Electrical Supervisor, the Electrical General Foreman is responsible for the efficient use of labor, equipment, tools and materials by their crews. The ideal candidate should be comfortable managing project timelines and budgets and ensuring all work performed meets necessary specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate levels of workforce.
  • Responsible for management of the electrical department frontline supervisors and electrical contractors.
  • Monitor day-to-day activities to ensure that the work is being performed in a safe and effective manner.
  • Assist the Electrical Superintendent with the preparation of the departmental budget. Must also ensure that the maintenance costs are in alignment with the current budget guidelines.
  • Create, develop & update departmental procedures and SOP’s.
  • Ensure the electrical work being performed is installed to specifications.
  • Provide leadership and training opportunities for workers.
  • Participates actively in toolbox and monthly meetings.
  • Spot checks five points safety cards.
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and monitoring preventive maintenance programs.
  • Ensures tidiness of shops, gear bay and overall housekeeping.
  • Ensures that supervisors have all the necessary tools to fulfill their roles.
  • Keeps superintendent informed of major activities.
  • Ensuring crew compliance with project/company policies and procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must hold a Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson trade certificate.
  • Supervisor Common Core is an asset.
  • Have a minimum of five years of work experience as an electrical supervisor and 8 years as a construction electrician.
  • Five years as supervisor.
  • Prompt daily attendance at assigned schedule.
  • Computer proficiency, specifically in Microsoft Office and SAP.
  • Competence in reading & interpreting design drawings/specifications.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, problem-solving, communication, conflict resolution, and time management skills.
  • Must be reliable and dependable.

Working Conditions:

7x7 rotational work
