Electrical Foreman - Institutional & Commercial Construction

For large, long-term high school and middle school projects in Langley, as well as Institutional, commercial and industrial projects throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

Who We Are

Since 1987, our company has specialized in institutional, commercial and industrial electrical construction.

We are based in Abbotsford, B.C., with projects throughout the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland, including Langley, Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, New Westminster, Delta, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack and Squamish.

We currently have two large school projects in Langley, a new indoor soccer facility, and several other institutional and industrial projects underway throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley. We also have an upcoming large industrial project in Squamish.

About The Position

We are looking for experienced Electrical Foremen who want long-term positions and the opportunity to take ownership of challenging, high-quality projects.

This position is for someone who can do more than install electrical work. We are looking for leaders who can plan ahead, organize manpower and materials, communicate with the project team, and efficiently lead a crew while maintaining our standards for quality and safety.

Our Foremen are an important part of our management team. For the right individuals, there are opportunities to advance into larger Foreman, General Foreman and Superintendent roles.

Our work is primarily institutional, commercial and industrial — not residential. No UBC, Vancouver Airport or downtown Vancouver core projects.

Foreman Responsibilities
  • Efficiently manage and lead electrical crews, typically 4-8 workers, with opportunities to progress to larger crews and projects
  • Manage day-to-day site goals and coordinate with the Site Superintendent, Project Manager and other trades
  • Plan ahead and maintain a minimum 2-week look-ahead schedule
  • Organize manpower and labour to meet project schedules and productivity goals
  • Review drawings, specifications and the Electrical Code and make sound site decisions
  • Order materials in advance and verify deliveries and packing slips
  • Monitor job progress and identify potential problems before they impact the schedule
  • Track changes, extras, as-builts, and time-and-material work
  • Maintain daily site documentation, including delays, issues and crew size
  • Coordinate electrical installations with other trades
  • Lead daily safety requirements, including Field Level Hazard Assessments, Toolbox Meetings and Lock-Out procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized and professional job site
  • Attend site meetings when required and communicate information back to the crew and Project Manager
  • Develop and mentor Journeymen and Apprentices
  • Delegate effectively and develop strong Lead Hands within your crew
  • Maintain open communication with the office and project management team
  • Lead by example in productivity, workmanship, attitude and safety
Key Requirements
  • Interprovincial / Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification
  • Experience leading electrical crews
  • Strong knowledge of commercial and/or institutional electrical construction
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and electrical code requirements
  • Strong understanding of conduit, distribution, lighting, fire alarm and electrical systems
  • Ability to plan manpower, materials and work areas in advance
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with General Contractors and other trades
  • Comfortable making day-to-day site decisions and taking ownership of the work
  • Able to motivate, delegate and hold crew members accountable
  • Safety-focused and committed to quality workmanship
  • Own hand tools required
  • Valid driver's licence
  • No criminal record (required by the project)
The Foreman We're Looking For

Our Foremen understand that running a job involves more than showing up and putting in the hours.

You should know what your crew is doing today, what they need tomorrow, and what is coming several weeks from now.

You take pride in keeping your project organized, productive and moving forward. You communicate problems early, ask questions when something isn't clear, and work with the Project Manager and office team to find solutions.

Most importantly, you lead by example and earn the trust of the people working for you.

What We Offer
  • Very competitive wages
  • Vehicle allowance and gas card
  • Long-term employment with a well-established electrical contractor
  • Large, interesting and challenging projects
  • Opportunities to advance into larger Foreman and Superintendent positions
  • RRSP program
  • Full group benefits plan
  • Training and professional development opportunities
  • Support from an experienced Project Management and office team
  • A friendly core management group
  • Company social activities and a strong team environment
