Job summary

Rising Edge Group, located in Canada, is seeking a Field Foreman to manage on-site construction activities in a high-voltage setting. The successful candidate will lead a small crew ensuring adherence to safety standards and project specifications.

With a focus on quality and teamwork, the Field Foreman will also be responsible for reporting progress and maintaining organized material logistics while meeting project timelines.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must be able to travel to sites as required.

What You'll Do

Directly reporting to the Construction Manager/Site Supervisor, the role of Field Foreman is to manage and oversee specific on-site construction activities as assigned by Construction Manager/Site Supervisor. In this role the Field Foreman is expected to lead a small on-site crew while ensuring project construction is executed effectively and within budget. The Field Foreman is also responsible for submitting progress reports and timesheets for his/her crew to the Construction Manager daily. The Field Foreman is responsible to be the main point of contact for his/her assigned crew. This role is applicable for projects where a Construction Manager/Site Supervisor can no longer effectively oversee large crews or several crews working at remote work faces. (ie. Major projects and/or collector systems)

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure assigned construction activities are executed in compliance with project drawings, specifications, schedules, budget, safety and quality requirements and standards
  • Ensure all tasks are being completed up to Rising Edge standard, ensure all workers/subcontractors following REG policy, receive work packages daily/weekly that will be pre-built, offer advice on work packages for smooth daily planning, ensure crew is arriving to site on time, keeping breaks within reason and working efficiently,
  • Ensure progress reports including crew timesheets are completed and submitted to Construction Manager/Site Supervisor daily
  • Be the liaison between the Construction Manager/Site Supervisor and assigned work crew
  • Leading by example, support implementation of company’s on-site safety policies and procedures. Document and report all injuries, fill out the Notice of Injury/Accident Report and communicate to the Construction Manager/Site Supervisor
  • Work closely with the Construction Manager/Site Supervisor to meet project’s construction timelines through the efficient use of on-site construction resources, manpower, materials, tools, and equipment
  • Maintain quality of workmanship as per the design documents
  • Mentor, train and motivate the job-site crew in adopting a culture of safety. Empower crew to remain knowledgeable of company’s safety policies and procedures
  • Work closely with the Construction Manager/Site Supervisor and the client to review and obtain closure to all RFIs and CO’s
  • Support internal and external audit and inspection activities
  • Keep material organized, pre plan material needed for upcoming tasks, request material that needs to be ordered from the logistics foreman in a timely matter, keep tool trailers and equipment clean, ensure equipment is being scheduled for re-fuelling
  • Complete all QA documents each day, ensure photographs are being taken as needed, ensure all return data gets back to quality advisor, review prints to ensure proper standards are being met, ensure safe keeping of all documentation through the day until package is returned to the laydown
  • Receive safety package daily of all documentation that needs to be filled out. Complete tail board meetings with crew, ensure safe work practices are being used, complete blue cards, equipment inspections, ensure permits are valid, safety/environmental inspections completed, watch crew members for safe work practises, lead by example, safe keeping of all daily documentation
Additional Information

This position is designated as safety-sensitive making employment contingent upon the successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, as well as criminal and general background checks.

Schedule
  • Schedule rotations range from 4 days on / 3 days off or 8 days on / 6 days off, 21 days on / 7 days off, ect.
  • Standard workdays are 10 hours (7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.)
  • Overtime paid at time and a half after 10 hours per day and 40 hours per week
  • Out-of-town work includes either all-inclusive camp accommodations or LOA and individual accommodations (project dependent)
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Construction Management or a related field or Journeyperson PSE/Electrician designation required
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required
  • 5-7 years of experience in the construction industry required
  • Experience in medium to high-voltage substation construction a definite asset
  • Knowledge of various construction disciplines, safety regulations, project scheduling, cost and quality control, engineering drawings a definite asset
  • Must be able to travel to sites as required
