Job summary

GDI Ainsworth is seeking an Electrical Estimator to respond to tenders and RFQs in the commercial and institutional markets. You will develop accurate, competitive estimates for Tenant Improvements and review them with project and service managers, foremen and the regional director.

The role requires 1–2 years of estimating experience, proficiency with ACU-BID, and strong analytical skills. Hybrid work options and a comprehensive benefits package are provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1–2 years estimating experience in a trade background or degree/diploma in electrical engineering or technology.
• Experience producing design build proposals / estimates.
• Proficiency with ACU-BID (estimation software).
• Trade Certificate would be a great asset.
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review specifications and drawings to prepare accurate estimates.
• Develop material take-offs and labour take-offs.
• Coordinate price packages with suppliers, subcontractors, owners, designers and architects.
• Review estimates with project team to ensure alignment of labour, material, equipment and subcontracting costs.
• Prepare tenders by quantifying and tabulating all costs.
• Liaise with procurement to obtain pricing on estimate components.
• Participate in site and tender reviews and hand-offs with management and purchasing.
• Advise on opportunities, risks, and viability to guide the team.
