The Engineering Services group in Sudbury, ON provides mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings such as Hospitals, Long Term Care facilities, Universities, Colleges, Institutional, Recreational, Commercial, Light Industrial, Multi-Residential market. Our clients and projects are varied and diverse. The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients. We are looking for an Electrical Engineering Team Lead with minimum 15 years’ experience in Electrical design for many types of buildings. This is a position that will allow for growth in leadership of an electrical design team.

Your role within the team

  • Provide electrical systems design leadership and project management for design mandates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review, understand and clearly communicate all relevant client requirements, provide design options and recommendations to meet those requirements.
  • Develop strategies to identify and manage project risks and potential liabilities.
  • Lead and actively participate in, and document, meetings with clients, contractors and other consultants.
  • Prepare design briefs, schematics, project documents and perform all required engineering calculations.
  • Lead production all required engineering documents in schematic design, design development and working drawings.
  • Work with contractors to quickly resolve onsite issues and ensure contractor’s conformance to design requirements.

The ideal candidate

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. (Registered in other provinces is an asset).
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in building systems engineering, preferably for educational, health care, offices, municipal infrastructure, and commercial facilities, working with relevant codes including, OBC, NBC, CEC/OESC, ASHRAE 90.1, relevant CSA Standards (C282, Z32, Z317.5, B44, etc.), ULC-S524 and S537.
  • Demonstrate experience building and maintaining long term relationships with clients (i.e. understanding client objectives, anticipating and meeting client needs, and growing the business).
  • Experience supervising, mentoring, and motivating a team of engineers and designers.
  • Proficient with AUTOCAD. (REVIT and Micro-station experience is an asset). MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
