Job summary

A leading global engineering firm is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer in Markham to join their design team. Your Opportunity

You will work with general supervision and direction on tasks and smaller projects, and as a team member of a larger project under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer. Your responsibilities include evaluating, recommending, and specifying engineered systems or products, ensuring compliance with codes and standards. Tasks may involve Revit design, calculations, and fieldwork, especially on more complex projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical construction drawings and specifications in collaboration with design teams.
  • Lead or prepare designs for fire alarm, power distribution, standby power (UPS & generators), lighting, and grounding, depending on project complexity.
  • Document progress through memos, reports, and minutes.
  • Provide technical support during client meetings.
  • Conduct site surveys for electrical and fire safety systems.
  • Prepare documentation from site surveys.
  • Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance.
  • Support field construction activities, including inspections and punch list generation.
  • Follow quality control processes for electrical design work.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit, with ability to communicate design intent effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Lighting design software knowledge is an asset.
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software (SKM, ETAP, Easypower) is an asset.
  • Experience in power distribution design for data centers or mission-critical facilities, including generators, UPS, and switchgear.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team with a strong customer service focus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineering license required.
  • Minimum 8 years of electrical system design experience, preferably in consulting engineering.
  • Uptime Certification or BICSI Certification is an asset.
