Job summary

EXP Services Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer, Mining to join the Mining Team in Sudbury or North Bay, ON.

You will design electrical systems for mining projects, lead concept development, and ensure compliance with project and safety standards. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, is registered as a P.Eng., and has at least 6 years of mining or industrial experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accredited University.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the province is mandatory.
• At least 6 years of experience in the mining or industrial industry.

Responsibilities

• Participates in designing electrical systems for mining projects.
• Leads design concepts and ensures proper application and execution.
• Verifies design deliverables, specifications, and equipment selection.
• Applies EXP's electrical engineering risk management practices.
• Executes complex electrical designs with conflicting requirements.
• Performs front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects.
• Contributes to revisions of EXP's design standards and master specifications.
• Evaluates value engineering items with respect to risk.
• Develops basis of design narratives and electrical one-lines/load lists.

Your work environment at EXP

In this role, you will be a part of the Mining Team, based in Sudbury or North Bay, ON office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• PLC, Power, Automation and instrumentation mining experience required.
• Responsible for meeting firm's engineering quality levels of discipline on assigned projects.
• Oversees development of design concepts by Designers, and ensure proper application and execution.
• Verifies Designer's work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Responsible for applying the EXP's risk management practices of electrical engineering.
• Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
• Encourages collaboration to seek the best solutions.
• Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Executes complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
• Perform front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects.
• Contributes to revisions of EXP's design standards and master specifications.
• Evaluates Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
• Edits and develops the basis of design narratives documenting the project scope.
• Develops electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
• Participates in HAZOP, PHA, safety reviews.

What your experience looks like

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accredited University.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the province is mandatory.
• At least 6 years of experience in the mining or industrial industry.

The salary range for this role is between$90K - $119K. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
