Electrical Engineer, Mining

Locations: St. Johns, NL; Brampton, Sudbury; North Bay, ON

Responsibilities

• PLC, power, automation, and instrumentation mining experience required.
• Responsible for meeting the firm’s engineering quality levels of discipline on assigned projects.
• Oversee development of design concepts by designers and ensure proper application and execution.
• Verify designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Apply EXP’s risk‑management practices of electrical engineering.
• Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
• Encourage collaboration to seek the best solutions.
• Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
• Perform front‑end loading of electrical systems for projects.
• Contribute to revisions of EXP’s design standards and master specifications.
• Evaluate value‑engineering items with respect to our level of risk.
• Edit and develop the basis of design narratives documenting the project scope.
• Develop electrical one‑lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
• Participate in HAZOP, PHA, safety reviews.
