Job summary

EXP is seeking an Electrical Engineer for the Mining team, based in Sudbury or North Bay, ON. You will design electrical systems for mining projects, oversee designers, and ensure compliance with EXP standards while managing multiple projects and budgets.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, P. Eng. license in the province, and at least 6 years of mining/industrial experience. Salary range: $90K–$119K CAD, with location-based compensation.

• At least 6 years of experience in the mining or industrial industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for mining projects and ensure adherence to quality levels.
• Oversee design concepts by Designers and ensure proper application and execution.
• Verify Designers’ work quality regarding specifications, reports, and drawings.
• Apply EXP risk management practices to electrical engineering.
• Coordinate across multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Lead front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects and develop basis of design narratives.

In this role, you will be a part of the Mining Team, based in Sudbury or North Bay, ON office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

• PLC, Power, Automation and instrumentation mining experience required.
• Responsible for meeting firm's engineering quality levels of discipline on assigned projects.
• Oversees development of design concepts by Designers, and ensure proper application and execution.
• Verifies Designer’s work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
• Responsible for applying the EXP’s risk management practices of electrical engineering.
• Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
• Encourages collaboration to seek the best solutions.
• Manages work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
• Executes complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.Perform front-end loading of Electrical systems for projects.
• Contributes to revisions of EXP’s design standards and master specifications.
• Evaluates Value Engineering (cost cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
• Edits and develops the basis of design narratives documenting the project scope.
• Develops electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
• Participates in HAZOP, PHA, safety reviews.

What Your Experience Looks Like

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an Accredited University.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the province is mandatory.
• At least 6 years of experience in the mining or industrial industry.
