Job summary

Enbridge is seeking a Senior Engineer to oversee expansion and maintenance capital project design and coordination with engineering service providers. You will ensure regulatory compliance, Enbridge specifications, and reliable operation within budget and schedule.

You will liaise with stakeholders to interpret information for competitive solutions and successful project execution, providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers across project phases.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in engineering system design and commissioning.
• Experience leading design review processes with internal and external stakeholders.
• A degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer designation.
• Ability to communicate effectively as an autonomous professional engineer.

• Own and manage the relationship and contracts with Engineering services providers.
• Lead the design review process with internal and external stakeholders ensuring regulatory requirements, code and Enbridge specs are followed.
• Review materials, bids and coordinate with Supply Chain for procurement.
• Provide planning and scheduling for design and procurement phases.
• Provide technical support during all project phases, including development, construction, and commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and share technical guidance across the team.

High Level Description

The Senior Engineer oversees the design of expansion and maintenance capital projects executed by Engineering service providers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, Enbridge specifications and processes and operational reliability requirements within project budget and schedule. They liaise with stakeholders to interpret key information for competitive solutions and successful project execution.

They liaise with stakeholders to interpret key information for competitive solutions and successful project execution.

Accountabilities

• Own and manage the relationship and contracts with Engineering services providers
• Lead the design review process with internal and external stakeholders ensuring regulatory requirements, code and Enbridge’s specifications, standards and procedures are followed including Process Hazard operability and constructability perspective
• Manage the specification and requisition of materials by reviewing vendor materials quotations, evaluate technical bid evaluations and provide recommendation based on technical merit along with price and delivery. Collaborate with Supply Chain to procure material via internal tools.
• Provide planning and scheduling for design and procurement phases of the project
• Provide technical support during all project phases, including project development, construction, and commissioning.
• Manage engineering firms to incorporate red-line markups into as-built drawings for all projects
• Supports the development of the project scope, schedule, capital cost estimate, execution planning, risks and supporting information related to assigned facility projects during the project development phase.
• Support Operations with any incident investigations after project handover
• Reviews lessons learned from past projects and incorporates recommendations into future designs
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team or others based upon technical expertise
• Provides support and assistance to peers and more senior staff in order to facilitate/lead business or department initiatives and legal compliance

Must Haves

• 10+ years progressive experience in Engineering system design and commissioning activities within Oil and Gas Industry
• Experience leading designing review processes with internal and external stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university or college.
• Professional Engineer designation
• Aptitude and communications skills related to acting independently as a professional engineer
• Proven planning, organizational, problem solving, decision – making and negotiating skills, supplemented with a practical aptitude.
