Job summary

TEEMA Group in Burnaby, BC, seeks an Electrical Engineer E4 to apply professional engineering knowledge for medium complexity projects, ensuring safety, quality, and timely delivery.

You will prepare design packages, act as PoR, provide field support, and perform power system calculations in line with EGBC, CSA/ULC, IEEE, and IEC standards. This contract role spans 12 months with potential extension.

Responsibilities

• Prepare project documentation and deliverables per company Engineering Design Practices.

• Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a PoR in accordance with EGBC and company practices.
• Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field with PoR supervision.
• Prepare detailed electrical designs and documentation for stations per BC Hydro and industry standards.
• Lead switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, grounding, lighting, and power supply system design.
• Create detailed design packages (layouts, diagrams, cable schedules, material lists).
• Review designs and provide technical guidance.
• Prepare reports on condition assessments and recommendations.

Overview:

The E4 – Engineer is a professional engineer or geoscientist who applies engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium complexity projects and/or operations safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

What you will be doing:

• Prepare project documentation and deliverables in accordance with the companyproject and Engineering Design Practices (i.e. evaluation reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis’, calculations, hazard logs, test plans).
• Prepare design work packages including scope, duration, and level of effort estimates.
• Prepare signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and company Design Practices.
• Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field, and undertake field reviews as required by EGBC
• Prepare engineering deliverables under the direct supervision of a Professional of Record (PoR) in accordance with EGBC and companyDesign Practices.
• Provide technical assistance and construction support in the field, and undertake field reviews under the direct supervision of a PoR.
• Prepare detailed designs and documentation for electrical systems and electrical equipment in generation stations in accordance with BC Hydro and industry standards and practices.
• Provide detail design and technical leadership for switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, grounding, lightning, lighting, power cables and station service power supply system design
• Prepare detailed design packages (equipment layouts, single line diagrams, three line diagrams, cable schedules, material lists, external connections, etc.) required to install or modify equipment, including interfacing to the existing station systems, ready to issue and archive in the companyDrawing file system.
• Providing technical review of designs prepared by others following established practices.
• Prepare reports detailing condition assessment investigations of facility equipment and systems, evaluation and analysis of the investigation, and recommendations to address any deficiencies found.
• Provide technical guidance during equipment installation and commissioning.
• Prepare or review/accept inspection test plans for factory acceptance test and site acceptance test
• Prepare commissioning test plans and summary of requirements documentation.
• Perform various engineering calculations: grounding study, arc flash study, short-circuit, cable design, etc.
• Knowledge in power system planning, system operation, protection & control engineering, and project management.
• Experience with generation, the company standards, and other electrical standards including both national (CSA, ULC) and international (IEEE, IEC, etc.) is an asset.
