Job description

At Ventmedic Corp. (VMC), we are rewriting the script for environmental stewardship. We develop cutting-edge digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (d-MRV) technologies that enable automated, NIST-traceable, and blockchain-secured tracking of methane emissions. Our systems provide precision flow rate and concentration analytics for remote industrial applications across oil and gas, landfill, and agriculture RNG sectors. We help global businesses replace outdated \"bubble test\" estimations with auditable, continuous data to unlock carbon credits and maximize sustainability.

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our technical team in Calgary. In this role, you will lead the hardware optimization, circuit design, and remote data communication architecture for our flagship automated monitoring hardware. Because our products operate autonomously in extreme industrial environments (handling -40°C to 60°C temperatures and pressure up to 1500 PSI), you will ensure hardware safety, power efficiency, and long-term operating reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Circuit & Hardware Design: Design, prototype, and test robust electrical circuits, PCB layouts, and power management units for solar-powered hardware.
  • Intrinsically Safe Systems: Ensure all electrical components adhere strictly to Class 1 Div II hazardous area classification requirements or better.
  • Telemetry & Communications Integration: Maintain and optimize hardware interfaces for remote communication arrays, focusing on Bluetooth and cellular/satellite modem connectivity.
  • Sensor Integration: Collaborate on the precision integration of gas flow sensors, mass flow rate instruments, and methane concentration analytical systems.
  • Environmental Testing: Oversee hardware validation testing against extreme temperature variations (-40°C to 60°C) and pressure parameters.
  • Lifecycle Support: Assist the deployment and support teams with building training tools or technical documentation for field installations and annual calibrations.
Required Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a highly related technical field.
  • Credentials: Eligible for registration or currently registered as a P.Eng. or E.I.T. with APEGA.
  • Hazardous Environment Experience: Demonstrated knowledge of Class 1 Div II (or similar intrinsic safety) design standards.
  • Hardware Telemetry: Direct experience integrating cellular modems, Bluetooth low energy (BLE), or satellite modules into industrial IoT equipment.
  • Power Systems: Proven track record designing low-power, solar-recharged, micro-battery, or high-efficiency embedded equipment.
Preferred Assets
  • Experience working with digital Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) tech, environmental monitoring equipment, or emissions software.
  • Foundational knowledge of digital security architecture, onboard data storage arrays, or blockchain data verification steps. Understanding UI/UX platforms and cloud based data storage architecture.
  • Familiarity with the oil and gas sector, well site mechanics, surface casing vent systems, pneumatic controls, compressor seal vents and oil storage tank venting.
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary with comprehensive benefits package.
  • Direct involvement in a fast-scaling cleantech enterprise addressing global climate initiatives.
  • Collaborative, high-autonomy workspace based in Calgary Alberta.
