ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION PLANNER

Full-time Permanent

As an Electrical Distribution Planner, you'll play a key role in designing and improving the systems that keep communities powered and businesses running. Canadian Niagara Power Inc. (CNPI), located in beautiful Fort Erie, is looking for a motivated self-starter, who has a positive attitude, and a desire to provide great customer service. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively deal with people in a professional manner, while complying with Company policies and procedures with respect to relevant legislation and regulations regarding the Electric Industry.

Key functions of the role:

  • Under direct supervision, shall assist Electric Planners of a higher classification in the application of prescribed Company and industry standards, guides, specifications, practices and procedures in the preparation of construction, modification and maintenance worker orders for the Company’s transmission and distribution system.
  • Maintain records and mapping associated with the operation of the electrical system. Provide drafting services for Electric Planners of a higher classification and associated sections of the Company. Assist with determination and acquisition of easements and other rights of property.
  • Make application to civic authorities for permits and certificates necessary for the maintenance and construction of the electrical system. Ensure all permits and certificates are received prior to release of work. Process applications and requests for underground locates.
  • Perform simple layouts and designs of electrical facilities.
  • Analyze loading and protection criteria of both existing and propose facilities forming part of the electrical system.
  • The candidate shall ensure that work is performed in accordance with all relevant legislation, regulations and other requirements to which the Company subscribes.
  • Other duties as required.

What makes you a successful candidate?

  • Shall possess and maintain a valid Class “G” Ontario Drivers License
  • Shall be thoroughly familiar with the Company’s equipment, standards and practices, applicable to this type of work
  • Shall possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Shall have successfully completed a two-year technology program in the electrical field
  • Shall be thoroughly familiar with CAD applications and Microsoft Office Suite applications
