Your Opportunity

The Electrical Distribution Designer is responsible for providing cost estimates and designs for a diverse range of underground and overhead electrical distribution projects. Reporting to the Team Lead, Distribution Design, you are responsible for communicating directly with clients to establish service requirements and provide design solutions that meet client needs.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Design distribution infrastructure to meet project requirements
  2. Develop design solutions that meet all applicable codes, standards and regulations
  3. Develop project cost estimates and material lists
  4. Manage external client relationships through effective communication
  5. Monitor project progress and take action to meet client requirements
  6. Travel and perform site visits as required
  7. Identify potential safety or environmental concerns and initiate appropriate action
  8. Coordinate designs with various 3rd party stakeholders
  9. Facilitate approval requests with various 3rd party stakeholders
  10. Provide technical guidance to customers, stakeholders, and external consultants
  11. Support and mentor junior members of the team

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  1. Eligible or registered as an EIT in Canada (preferred)
  2. Effective interpersonal skills – Strong written and verbal skills are a must
  3. Able to work effectively as a member of a team
  4. Strong time management and prioritization skills
  5. Demonstrated project management skills
  6. PLSCAD or SPIDAcalc knowledge would be an asset
  7. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or possess an Electrical Engineering technology diploma
  2. Minimum 2 years experience in power distribution for utilities within North America

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Salary Range(s):

Lower Mainland $65,300/BC Other Areas $61,600 - Lower Mainland $91,400/BC Other Areas $86,200 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC.
