Job description

For over a century, HPS has provided electrical power solutions to global markets, including complex applications such as mining, rectifier drives, traction, wind, solar, and many others. The world relies on HPS to continually innovate and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  1. Design medium-complexity transformers and reactors, using existing guidelines to inform the design. Make technical decisions to complete the design.
  2. Review application requirements and communicate with customers for clarification or suggestions.
  3. Prepare quotes with technical details and factory costs.
  4. Develop optimized designs and Manufacturing Instruction Packages (MIP) for orders, ensuring costs align with quotes.
  5. Coordinate with drafting teams for overall design optimization.
  6. Support manufacturing and approve test reports.
  7. Assist with customer, field, and QA issues as needed.
  8. Follow project requirements, especially for COD projects.
  9. Collaborate with customers to develop cost-effective solutions for their applications.
  10. Work with the HPS team to meet project requirements efficiently and on schedule.
Qualifications:
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Minimum: Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma.
  • 3-5 years of experience in transformer and related product design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals.
  • Working towards or eligible for Professional Engineering designation is an asset.
  • Practical problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and adherence to best practices.
  • Experience with programming languages.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations, including stress analysis.
