We are seeking an Electrical Designer to work within a multidisciplinary team designing efficient and reliable electrical substations and distribution networks. The role involves assisting Design Engineers with coordinating design activities, maintaining project schedules, and ensuring successful project completion. You will also support the estimating team in preparing estimates and proposals, ensuring all design activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and AtkinsRéalis policies, including safety, environmental, quality assurance, and quality control.

Location: Toronto, ON.

Your responsibilities include:

• Developing plan and profile drawings of overhead lines and underground cables for distribution networks in coordination with line engineers.
• Assisting in developing underground cable routing, conduit, and trench plan layouts and sections.
• Performing design calculations for conductor and cable sizing, overhead poles, and underground conduit sizing and arrangements.
• Preparing pricing estimates using utility material databases.
• Supporting the preparation of Power Single Line Diagrams, Relay and Metering One-line Diagrams, and Communication Architectural Block Diagrams.
• Preparing Bills of Materials and Cable Schedules.
• Collaborating with peers and other discipline designers to ensure accurate delivery that meets utility standards, industry standards, and best engineering practices.
• Maintaining good relationships with internal teams supporting the project.

The ideal candidate:

• Holds an associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
• Has 4-6 years of experience as a Designer in Transmission and Distribution.
• Possesses good knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI.
• Proficient in Bentley MicroStation, GNET or similar GIS software, ProjectWise, SAP; AutoCAD is an asset.
• Experienced in Toronto Hydro or other distribution utility CADD standards.
• Knowledge of software like SpidaCalc and Cable Pull Planner is an asset.
• Has strong written and verbal communication skills.
