Our client located in Grimsby, ON is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Designer to join their growing team. The candidate will play an essential role in the development and implementation of electrical systems and solutions across a wide range of projects. This position involves collaborating closely with engineers and project managers to create detailed electrical design drawings and specifications that meet the specific needs and standards of each project.

This is a temporary to permanent role.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Contribute to all phases of projects from concept to design, build, start-up, installation, and service.
- Production of shop drawings.
- Specifying components and creating bills of materials.
- Project management.
- Programming of electronic devices.
- Technical assistance.
- Assisting with the production of maintenance manuals using Microsoft Word.
- Other duties as required.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Able and willing to travel nationally and internationally as required for onsite commissioning of equipment.
- A valid passport and the ability to travel without restrictions as required.
- Carry a Class “G” driver’s license with the ability to provide a valid, clear driver’s abstract within thirty (30) days of hire.
- Significant time on-site, which may involve travel to client locations, manufacturing plants, or construction sites.
- Occasionally, remote work from home may be necessary; home office equipped with reliable, high-speed internet access.
- Knowledge of closed-loop motion control, PID tuning, proportional hydraulic control.
- Understanding of hydraulic systems and principles.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills for resolving complexities in manufacturing customized material handling equipment.
- Expertise in design methodologies for conduit and wiring installations on equipment.
- Electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competency with AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with ISO quality control systems.
- Experience with Rockwell Factory Talk.
- Proven ability to design electrical control systems for industrial machinery.
- Positive mindset, dedication to work, pride in output, and eagerness for continuous learning.
- Enthusiastic team player, supporting controls department on the shop floor, engaging in computer-based design work, and contributing during meetings.
Education and Experience :
- Relevant post-secondary education, preferably in Electrical Engineering or P. Eng.
- Five to seven years of experience.
- Programming experience with Rockwell PLC, HMI platforms, and Siemens PLCs.
- Experience with GuardLogix PLC and ControlLogix PLC platforms.
- Experience with standards such as Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code (USA), NFPA, ISO, CSA Z.
- Experience designing and commissioning lifting/hoisting machines.
- Troubleshooting and commissioning hydraulic systems.
- AutoCAD Electrical experience.
