Overview
We have an exciting contract opportunity to join our global EPC client as an Electrical Designer
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced electrical design calculations, including lighting, raceway and conduit sizing, wire sizing, voltage drop, cable pulling, panelboard sizing, breaker sizing, and junction box sizing.
- Provide field engineering support during construction, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
- Develop and review electrical design deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications.
- Utilize 2D and 3D CAD systems to support electrical design development and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
- Create and review designs using Hexagon Smart® Electrical, Hexagon Smart® Review, and 3D modeling platforms such as Hexagon Smart® 3D.
- Apply electrical design requirements and best practices related to grounding/earthing, lighting systems, power distribution, wiring, motors, conduit fill, panelboards, and hazardous area installations.
- Interpret and apply electrical design guides, technical practices, standards, and engineering procedures throughout all phases of project execution.
- Collaborate with engineering and design teams to ensure constructability, operability, and integration of electrical systems within plant and facility designs.
Qualifications
- Diploma in a relevant technical discipline (or equivalent) with 20+ years of related industry experience, or a combination of education and experience totaling 22+ years.
- Strong technical knowledge and practical experience supporting engineering, design, construction, and industrial projects.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, vendors, contractors, coworkers, and other project stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of applicable local, provincial/state, and federal regulations, codes, and industry standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, maintain attention to detail, and deliver quality work in a schedule-driven environment.
- Knowledge of material selection, commercial availability, procurement considerations, and cost impacts.
- Extensive practical field experience supporting installation, commissioning, maintenance, or construction activities.
