Job summary

TBT Engineering Limited is seeking an experienced electrical design lead to contribute to and direct electrical design projects. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure designs are accurate, constructible, and compliant with relevant codes and project requirements.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in electrical design, a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, and strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit MEP.

Qualifications

• Strong expertise in electrical design with a formal Electrical Engineering credential.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical design.
• Proficient with design and modeling software such as AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
• Proven ability to mentor junior designers and coordinate multidisciplinary design work.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical design drawings, plans, and technical documentation.
• Conduct electrical design calculations and quality reviews.
• Coordinate design efforts with electrical engineers, PMs and multidisciplinary teams.
• Incorporate client requirements and codes into mechanical/electrical designs.
• Mentor junior designers and support their professional growth.
• Assist with project planning, scheduling, and client engagement.
• Support proposal preparation and business development activities.
• Ensure designs comply with codes, standards, and company QA/QC systems.

Position Description

Contribute to and lead electrical design projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across diverse engineering divisions in a dynamic and growth-oriented environment. Apply advanced technical knowledge in the design of electrical systems, including lighting, communications, security and lifesaving systems. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior designers while ensuring designs are accurate, constructible, and compliant with applicable standards, codes, and project requirements.

Position Responsibilities

• Prepare and review mechanical design drawings, plans, and technical documentation for building systems, industrial processes, and equipment installations.
• Conduct design calculations for electrical systems.
• Coordinate design efforts with electrical engineers, project managers, and other multidisciplinary team members to ensure project alignment and constructability.
• Review and incorporate project requirements, client specifications, and regulatory codes into mechanical designs.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior designers, supporting their professional growth.
• Contribute to project planning, scheduling, and coordination with clients, architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Support proposal preparation, business development, and client engagement activities.
• Ensure all designs adhere to applicable codes, standards, and company quality and safety systems.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise in electrical design, supported by a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. The role requires 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical design. Candidates should be proficient with design and modeling software such as AutoCAD and Revit MEP, and possess strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. Proven experience mentoring junior designers and coordinating design work across multidisciplinary teams is essential.

This position is classified as full time. Rate of pay will be commensurate with related experience and qualifications ($32.47 per hour +).
