Overview
Electrical Designer role at a fast-growing HVAC company based in Barrie, developing heat pump equipment for the emerging market space of low-carbon domestic hot water systems. The position is part of the core development team, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. You will work on and take ownership of many aspects of new equipment design.

- Hours: Mon-Fri 8am – 4:30pm
- Salary: $70-80k permanent, full time

Responsibilities
- Develop new electrical designs for commercial HVAC equipment, optimizing components and layout.
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes to be applied to the designs.
- Control logic and wiring design, selection and evaluating instrumentation.
- Programming PLC controllers and testing on simulators.
- Generate applicable drawings and bills of materials for equipment.
- Design and review equipment electrical schematics.
- Create panel layout drawings.
- Design equipment electrical harnesses and wiring subassemblies.
- Sourcing, reviewing and purchasing components for electrical assemblies.
- Work with operations personnel to gain feedback for product development and refinement.
- Testing and evaluating the electrical design of the units on the test stand for proper operating sequences.
- Troubleshooting designs and prototypes as required.
- Preparation of technical documents.
- Work with sub-vendors to finalize component selection and configuration.
- Evaluate the design in the final product format and functionality.
- Work with vendors to refine and optimize the designs.
- Support production and sales.
Experience
- 3+ years experience with equipment design and development.
- Previous work on AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical or other CAD software.
- Experience with electrical power design, inverter and VFD drives.
- PLC controllers and programming languages, instrumentation.
- Experience with any HVAC equipment is beneficial.
Education
Electrical Engineering Degree or Electrical Engineering Technician / Technologist Diploma
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
- This position may require travel to third-party compliance sites for inspections and audits.
- Flexibility in hours to accommodate training sessions, audits, and compliance deadlines.
