Job summary

Cybertech Automation in Edmonton, AB seeks an Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical systems design and CAD documentation for diverse industrial projects. The candidate will work with cross-functional teams to meet project specs, codes, and safety standards.

Ideal applicants have 5+ years in electrical design, AutoCAD Electrical proficiency, and experience with control panels, MCCs, and PLC/DCS layouts. A Canada-wide, hands-on engineer role offering growth and traveling assignments.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in control panels, MCC, VFD, motor design, and layouts.
  • Experience with Canadian Electrical Code parts 1 and 2.
  • AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, control panels, and grounding for Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Waste Water projects.
  • Develop high-quality CAD drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams that adhere to project specs and standards.
  • Conduct design reviews, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain quality.
  • Interface with clients to gather requirements and provide technical support.
  • Develop, maintain and manage relationships with clients, engineers, contractors, etc.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.

Cybertech is currently seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing team in Edmonton, AB. Required Qualifications:
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technologist Diploma or relatable field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or P.L.Eng with APEGA, or ability to register
  • Oil and gas experience
  • Instrumentation Engineering Technologist experience is an asset
Minimum 5 year’s experience in the following:
  • Control panel, MCC, VFD, motor design and layouts
  • PLC/DCS cabinet design
  • Electrical equipment sizing, specification and selection
  • Single line diagrams, schematics, and termination details
  • Instrumentation loop wiring and design
  • Cable routing, tray layout, heat tracing and lighting
  • Power and grounding system studies and conceptual design
  • Testing & On-site Commissioning
  • Experience with Canadian Electrical code parts 1 and 2
  • AutoCAD/AutoCAD electrical experience
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, instrumentation, control panels, and grounding for a range of projects in Oil and Gas, Food and Beverage, Waste Water.
  • Develop high-quality CAD drawings, schematics, and single-line diagrams that adhere to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct design reviews, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards in all deliverables.
  • Interface with clients to gather requirements and provide technical support.
  • Develop, maintain and manage relationships with clients, engineers, contractors, etc.
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.
Other Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Cleared and current Criminal Background Check
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
Working Conditions:
  • Hours of work are Monday to Thursday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM and Friday 7:30 AM - 11:30 AM, with a half-hour unpaid lunch break per shift
  • Overtime and/or working weekends may be required
  • 30% travel will be required (In town and out of town)
