A leading company in power generation is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer for a long-term contract position. The role involves providing electrical engineering expertise in nuclear power generation projects, overseeing design processes, and mentoring junior engineers. Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and over five years of relevant experience, with a strong track record in electrical design and project management.

Hybrid Work setting - 3 days / week in the office required.- Travel Requirements : Regular travel / visits to client sites in the Durham region are required, as well as occasional travel within the GTANOTE : Nuclear Worker / OPG / Bruce Power Security Clearance is an asset.Accountabilities / DeliverablesTo deliver electrical engineering expertise to power generation utilities and other customers. The specific accountabilities of the position are as follows : - Provide input and direction to the development of conceptual / detailed equipment designs as they progress through a structured design process.- Provide technical oversight and mentoring of more junior members of the Engineering team.- Provide electrical power distribution design and analysis for operating nuclear and other industrial plants.- Perform condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and other power plant equipment.- Develop life cycle plans, including inspection and test programs.- Perform engineering change design and analysis following established Engineering Change Control procedures.- Perform electrical analysis, equipment protection, cable, and electrical equipment selection.- Interface with construction / procurement partners and utility stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the design project (i.e., from preliminary and conceptual engineering to detailed design, implementation, and close-out) to provide practical and effective solutions as per requirements.- Provide field support to multi-disciplined plant design modifications, including provision of field engineering.- Provide technical guidance and direction on projects, and act as the design team lead where appropriate.- Understand and assess client problems and determine appropriate means of solution.- Interface effectively with other staff on multi-disciplinary projects.- Stay current with developments within your field of expertise.- Regular travel / visits to client sites in the Durham region are required, as well as occasional travel within the GTA.- Other duties as assigned.Ideal Candidate for this Role- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) is required.- 5+ years' experience in electrical design engineering.- A Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering.- Proven track record in electrical design and analysis in electrical power distribution, including application to nuclear plants.- Strong knowledge of generating station power upgrades, including necessary system protection / system stability, and relaying.- Experience in performing condition assessments of electrical equipment such as transformers, breakers, switch gears, electric motors, motor control centers, generators, and other power plant equipment.- Knowledge of the life cycle management of electrical equipment.- In-depth knowledge and experience of the use of appropriate codes and standards (e.g., N299 and CSA N286), as applied to nuclear plants and conventional plants.- Experience in project management and interfacing with and coordinating activities of multi-disciplinary teams.- Knowledge and experience working with nuclear power plant (Bruce Power, OPG, NB Power, or other) systems & processes, e.g,.
