Richmond Hill, ON
Manufacturing
Competitive Salary $130,000–$150,000 Base + Bonus

We’re partnered with an innovative Canadian manufacturer at the forefront of automation and robotics technology. With a reputation for delivering custom industrial automation systems, they’re searching for a hands-on Electrical & Controls Lead to oversee the electrical engineering and controls function across projects.

This is a pivotal leadership opportunity—one that spans the entire engineering lifecycle, from concept and design through to commissioning and service. The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary team focused on controls integration, automation software, and electrical system design for cutting-edge industrial equipment.

You’ll be instrumental in shaping engineering processes, standardizing best practices, and mentoring a highly technical team—all while collaborating closely with mechanical, manufacturing, and project delivery stakeholders to ensure seamless execution.

The Role:

  • Direct and coach a team of engineers and technologists focused on electrical controls, PLC/HMI programming, and automation software.

  • Champion the standardization and development of electrical designs, safety systems, and control panels in line with global standards and compliance codes.

  • Work in tandem with mechanical design teams to ensure cohesive, integrated system solutions that meet project timelines and specifications.

  • Lead troubleshooting, FATs, commissioning, and service support with a hands-on, solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Define and implement engineering standards, performance metrics, and continuous improvement strategies.

  • Identify opportunities to drive cost efficiency and technical consistency across projects through standardization.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, service, and project teams to solve technical challenges and optimize delivery.

  • Act as a key technical resource for internal teams and clients—providing clear communication, strong documentation, and customer support throughout the project lifecycle.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 8+ years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity within controls, automation, or robotics.

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field—or equivalent technical experience.

  • Deep knowledge of industrial automation systems, PLCs, motion control, and robotic integration.

  • Hands-on familiarity with tools like AutoCAD Electrical and control platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, or Beckhoff.

  • Experience with robotics, vision systems, and emerging technologies like AI is highly advantageous.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

  • Strong project coordination capabilities and a collaborative approach to cross-functional work.

  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing, safety standards, and commissioning processes.

  • Exposure to SAP or similar ERP platforms is a plus.

  • Valid driver’s license and passport; occasional travel required (approx. 10%).
