Our client, a leading EPCM company with projects across Canada is currently recruiting for a Contract:

Electrical/Controls Engineer

You are a motivated self-starter and team contributor with at least 10 years of progressive Electrical or Systems Design experience within industrial or power generation facilities/equipment. You also bring the following skills and experience to the team:

COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge and proficiency in electrical or systems design and equipment specification.
  • Prepare, verify, and implement design calculations.
  • Codes and Standards: Knowledge and proficiency with relevant codes and standards is a must. Knowledge of other regulatory and industry codes and standards is an asset.
  • Experience using relevant software/tools; experience with additional software/tools is an asset. Must be comfortable working in an industrial establishment and reviewing models.
  • Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to operate independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in instrumentation selection, specifications, quality control, and installation design.
  • Experience with control & monitoring systems including DCS, PLC, communications, programming, networks, protocols, analog & digital control, I/O database development, cabinet design, security & camera systems, fire detection systems, factory acceptance testing.
  • Experience with power systems including switchgear, MCC, transformers, cabling, cable tray, motors, panel design, arc flash & power flow analysis, grounding design, lighting, MV & LV power distribution, Canadian Electrical Code, protection design.
  • Project management experience, including the development of scopes of work, cost estimates, technical specifications, procurement documents and bidding evaluations, as well as contract negotiation and management.
  • On-site services including as-building, field measurements, construction supervision, commissioning lead, and commissioning support.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng) registered with APEGS (or eligible to register).
  • Previous electrical or systems design experience required.
  • Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
