Job summary

GDI Ainsworth is seeking an Electrical Apprentice to install electrical systems in new and existing buildings in a construction environment in Saskatoon. You may work on retro fit projects, with duties including reading drawings, wiring layouts, conduit installation, and equipment repairs.

Qualified applicants are in SK in the 3rd–4th year of an Electrical Apprenticeship, with a high school diploma or GED. Ability to read schematics, good English, and a focus on safety are essential as you

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology.
• Excellent command of the English language, both written and oral.
• Commercial/Construction installations experience.
• Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for new and existing installations.
• Cut, bend, thread and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings.
• Pull wire through conduits and ceiling spaces.
• Install, replace and repair electrical equipment.
• Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electrical and electronic systems, remove and replace faulty components.
• Splice, join and connect wire to components to form complete control systems.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Perform tasks with minimal supervision and in accordance with Ainsworth Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Perform all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by and in accordance with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental company policies and government legislation/regulations.

Job Summary

Qualifications

• Electrical Apprentice in SK (3rd - 4th year) with conduit experience
• High School degree, diploma, or a GED equivalent qualification from a certified college
• Knowledge of electrical theory and terminology
• Experience with HVAC, building automation systems and VFD’s an asset
• Ability to read and draw simple electrical sketches and schematics
• Excellent command of the English Language, both written and oral
• Strong attention to detail, ability to execute precision work
• Commercial / Construction installations experience
• Class 5 driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
