Job description

Electrical & Instrumentation Superintendent

Activity sector: Pulp and Paper

Site: Kamloops

Salary Range: $94,640 - $157,734

Schedule: Compressed Work Week (9-hour dayshifts, every other Friday off)

Role: Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the E&I Superintendent oversees electrical, instrumentation, and HVAC activities on site. This position manages E/I Supervisors and provides departmental direction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following responsibilities and skills.

Your Responsibilities
  1. Oversee E/I/HVAC functions and manage E/I supervisors.
  2. Support and communicate all mill safety initiatives, standards, and policies.
  3. Ensure reliability road map initiatives progress and meet KPIs.
  4. Stay updated on new and changing maintenance technologies and equipment.
  5. Initiate, recommend, and provide solutions to instrumentation problems, verifying implementation.
  6. Ensure personnel are adequately trained in coordination with Maintenance supervisors.
  7. Define selection criteria and identify training needs for Maintenance personnel.
  8. Evaluate E/I maintenance spending against budget expectations.
  9. Prepare Job Training Checklists for Maintenance direct reports.
  10. Ensure Work Notification/Work Order processing and completion.
  11. Control, calibrate, and maintain monitoring and measuring devices.
  12. Collaborate with Supervisors, Union, and HR to resolve employee issues.
  13. Utilize the MOC process as required.
  14. Prepare and select appropriate Quality Assurance models for inspection and calibration equipment, advising Procurement accordingly.
  15. Review ISO Maintenance Procedures.
  16. Investigate E&I equipment issues and develop environmental performance improvements.
  17. Approve Gas Response and Gas Alarm Maintenance Procedures.
  18. Participate in the mill on-call rotation.
Your Skills and Abilities
  1. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  3. Strong analytical skills.
  4. Experience in maintenance system development, implementation, and use.
  5. Problem-solving ability in a team environment.
  6. Proficiency with preventative/predictive maintenance software, including SAP, PI, Park View, and Excel.
  7. Competency in employee resolution and accountability development.
Your Qualifications
  1. Red Seal trade in E/I Maintenance or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  2. Strong computer skills and experience with maintenance management software.
  3. Pulp and Paper industry experience preferred.
  4. Minimum of 5 years supervisory and planning experience.
