Job description

At Nord Quantique, we strive to build impactful technology by relentlessly pushing our understanding of quantum science. We are an interdisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, innovators, builders, and enthusiasts on a mission to make quantum computing a reality. Our quantum processors are designed to reduce errors in quantum computation to facilitate long‑term scaling toward fully‑fledged quantum computers. We believe it is our responsibility to deliver this transformative technology for the greater good of society.

Located at the heart of the beautiful Eastern Townships region in the province of Quebec, Canada, we develop our technology in the vibrant quantum ecosystem of Sherbrooke. Leaning on more than a decade of vertical integration of quantum hardware, we are leveraging a comprehensive pool of quantum technology and micro‑electronic infrastructure to deploy our quantum computing technology.

Our current needs

Nord Quantique is looking for an Electrical & Electronics Technician to support the development, prototyping, integration, testing, and production of advanced quantum computing systems.

Working closely with engineers, scientists, and technical staff, you will contribute to the realization of electronic assemblies, electrical subsystems, and experimental hardware used throughout our research and product development activities. You will play a key role in bridging design and implementation, transforming engineering concepts into reliable and testable hardware solutions.

This role combines hands‑on electronics work, PCB assembly, electrical integration, prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. You will contribute throughout the complete product lifecycle, from proof‑of‑concept prototypes to production‑ready systems.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast‑paced R&D environment, has strong practical problem‑solving abilities, and takes pride in building high‑quality hardware with attention to detail.

Working in close collaboration with technical and management staff at Nord Quantique, the chosen candidate will:

  • Design of PCBs, including component selection, schematic drawing and PCB layout
  • Perform board‑level testing, validation, debugging, and troubleshooting
  • Assemble, solder, inspect and rework printed circuit boards (PCBs)
  • Build prototypes and experimental electronic assemblies for R&D projects
  • Fabricate wire harnesses, cable assemblies and custom electrical interconnections
  • Perform electrical wiring, panel assembly, cable routing and system integration activities
  • Read, interpret and update electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings
  • Use laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies and signal generators for testing and diagnostics
  • Support assembly and testing of complete electromechanical systems
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of assembly, testing and manufacturing processes
  • Maintain accurate documentation, test reports, assembly procedures and technical records
  • Support the transition of prototypes into manufacturing and production environments.
Education and experience requirements:
Required
  • DEC, Technical Diploma, or equivalent education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electromechanics, Instrumentation or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electronics assembly, electrical integration or hardware prototyping
  • Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, rework and troubleshooting
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings
Preferred
  • Experience in a high‑tech, scientific, aerospace, robotics or advanced R&D environment
  • Experience with prototype development and low‑volume manufacturing
  • Experience using PCB prototyping and fabrication equipment
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams during product development
Sought expertise and knowledge:
  • PCB assembly, testing, troubleshooting and rework.
  • Electrical wiring, harness fabrication and system integration.
  • PCB design tools and technical drawings (Altium; SolidWorks Electrical is an asset).
  • Strong documentation, attention to detail and practical problem‑solving skills.
Sought profile:
  • Hands‑on and detail‑oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
  • Creative and resourceful approach to technical challenges
  • Organised and reliable with strong attention to quality
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
