Job description

Adecco is currently hiring a full-time highly skilled and experienced Electrical Advisor - VFD Specialist to ensure the reliability, performance, and optimization of medium-voltage Variable Frequency Drive systems across our client's site operations in Fort McMurray, AB. This role requires you to possess deep technical knowledge, strong troubleshooting abilities, and proven experience in Utilities, Mining, or Oil & Gas environments. This role plays a critical part in minimizing downtime, improving system functionality, and supporting cross-functional reliability initiatives.

  • Work Schedule : Mon- Fri, 8 hours a day

Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the ongoing reliability and operational performance of VFD systems across the site
  • Lead maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of medium-voltage VFDs with a focus on uptime and efficiency
  • Diagnose and resolve complex VFD issues using expert knowledge and problem-solving techniques
  • Conduct failure analyses, root cause investigations, and support incident reporting involving VFD-related failures
  • Collaborate with asset owners to implement reliability improvement initiatives and drive continuous system enhancement
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards, codes, safety regulations, and internal policies
  • Stay current with technological advancements and best practices in VFD systems and programming interfaces
  • Advise on equipment strategies for VFDs and lead proactive risk identification through systems / network analysis
  • Train and support field teams, ensuring knowledge transfer and compliance with procedures
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders to lead investigations and share technical insights

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of field experience working with MV VFD systems in Utilities, Mining, or Oil & Gas
  • Certified or licensed Electrician, Engineering Technologist, or Electrical Engineer
  • Extensive knowledge of VFD systems and interfaces (e.g., ABB, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric, Allen- Bradley)
  • Familiarity with Canadian and Alberta fire safety codes.
  • Strong knowledge of VFD brands (e.g., ABB, Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider Electric) and their programming interfaces (requirement)
  • Strong background in industrial communication protocols and VFD network integration
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills to manage high-stakes technical issues
  • Excellent communication skills for leading investigations and coordinating with stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
