Job description

The Opportunity

The Electric Motor Systems Technician (EMST) will work with a small, dedicated team of mechanical professionals. Responsibilities include winding, assembling, and installing various coils, as well as performing in-shop and field mechanical repairs and electrical testing. The EMST will maintain confidentiality of all protected and proprietary information. Located in Grande Prairie, AB, the EMST will collaborate with experienced professionals. The Role

1. Inspect electro-mechanical equipment for damage and electrical malfunctions.
2. Test windings according to company procedures and EASA standards.
3. Document data related to electromagnetic characteristics, operating conditions, damage, or serviceability.
4. Dismantle and strip damaged equipment.
5. Prepare reusable parts for rewinding and inspect for hidden damage.
6. Rewind electro-mechanical equipment, including single-phase, three-phase, DC fields, armatures, wound rotors, and transformers, following proper insulating techniques.
7. Test rewound equipment and document results.
8. Complete job paperwork accurately and promptly.
9. Operate specialized repair and testing equipment.
10. Adhere to health and safety policies and legislative requirements.
11. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

The Candidate

• Registered EMST Apprentice, Journeyman Red Seal, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience as an EMST.
• Knowledge of welding, braze components, reading schematics, and mentoring.
• Self-motivated, calm under pressure, capable of troubleshooting independently.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills in on-site, time-sensitive situations.
