1Supports the planning and implementation of the elections process, including the development of project plans
Researches and develops election policies and procedures for approval by Deputy Clerk and Town Clerk
Implements election policies and procedures that have been approved by the Deputy Clerk and Town Clerk
Drafts necessary reports to Council regarding changes to the Municipal Elections Act, policies, and procedures
Supports the preparation and monitoring of the election budget
Coordination of voting logistics, including voting locations, supplies and election-related technology
Updates voting subdivision boundaries, utilizing GIS resources and population projections
Oversee the list of electors including revisions to the list, as required.
Supports the procurement of and implementation of election equipment
Liaises with Information Technology and other Town Divisions as required in the development of election systems and software for responsibilities such as managing candidates, volunteers, staffing, voter’s lists, voting locations, delivery and display of results.
Coordinates voting locations, coordinating with internal and external clients as necessary, including School Boards, Community Services Department, Milton Library, and Region of Halton
Coordination and distribution of ballot boxes, election supplies and any election technology for advance voting and Election Day
Responsible for the recruitment, training and management of election personnel (on Advance Voting days and Election Day
Scheduling of training sessions and providing training to election officials.
Provides overall supervision of operations and procedures during Advanced Voting Days and Election Day
Complies with and assumes appropriate supervisory responsibility for compliance with all health and safety practices in accordance with standard operating procedures and the Occupational Health & Safety Act
Supports communications, information and messaging for candidates, staff and the public to ensure a high level of customer service
Develops written materials for circulation to candidates, staff and the public
Prepares required election notices
Ensures the election webpage is accurate and up-to-date
Coordinates and supports the scheduling of and materials for the candidate nomination process
Coordinates Candidate Information Sessions as well as other public/staff information sessions as required
Conducts research, compiles and analyzes statistics and utilizes data to prepare statistical and associated reports
Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with Department objectives
Post-secondary diploma or degree, preferably in public administration or government relations programs
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the field of municipal government with direct experience with project management, including election experience
Understanding of theMunicipal Elections Actand related municipal and provincial legislation
Professional accreditation through AMCTO is preferred
Knowledge of municipal election procedures with exposure to leading election technologies and processes
Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience working with the Education Act, Municipal Act and Ontarians with Disabilities Act as well as any other applicable legislation
Proficient in Windows based software including Word, Excel and Outlook. MS Project
Political acuity and acumen
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as strong organizational and time management skills
Experience successfully meeting multiple deadlines under pressure while adapting to changing priorities
What We Offer
This 18 month contract is eligible for the following:
Annual Salary Range: $75,374 - $94,218 (35 hours/week)
Eligible to participate in the OMERS pension plan
Benefits in lieu
