Job description

Algonquin College is implementing a new SaaS-based Student Information System (SIS) with complex integrations to other internal systems. We are currently seeking an eLearning Lead to join our Ottawa, Ontario team. This role requires experience in coordinating the development of eLearning materials as part of large organizational projects.

The College aims to redesign business processes to better serve students and introduce efficiencies. The project includes launching a new portal for the Student Information System to enhance the student digital experience. This is a significant investment, and the eLearning Lead will ensure the effective adoption of new processes and software throughout the College. Training approaches will vary to meet high-level goals such as:

  • Ensuring process changes are well understood and adopted by employees
  • Designing training that promotes knowledge retention and supports just-in-time learning activities

Reporting directly to the Manager, eLearning and Development, the eLearning Lead will coordinate the development and quality review of training materials. The role requires expertise in learning theories, educational technologies, adult education, and quality assurance standards. The incumbent will collaborate with subject matter experts, eLearning designers, developers, and management to ensure a consistent development process, with regular management reports.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Conduct quality reviews of training materials to ensure they meet adult education best practices and technological standards.
  2. Review content with Business Process experts and ensure corrections are made.
  3. Provide guidance and coaching on improving user experience for videos, software simulations, and learner assessments.
  4. Coordinate the eLearning development process, ensure consistency, and report progress to management.
  5. Support and mentor multimedia developer co-op students in their projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma (or equivalent) from an accredited institution in Education, Educational Technology, Instructional Design, or related fields.
  • At least five years of experience in coordinating eLearning projects, applying adult learning theories to create interactive materials, simulations, and instructional documents.
  • Experience following a formal instructional design process, using tracking tools, and providing progress reports.
  • Expertise in methodologies and tools to ensure high-quality content output.
  • Minimum of five years of experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, InDesign, Audition).
  • Preferred: Experience developing software simulations within ERP projects, knowledge of data staging for training, use of Adobe Captivate or similar tools, and experience in post-secondary education, especially in Registrar's Office operations or training for student information systems.

This role can primarily be remote, with occasional meetings (at least quarterly) in Ottawa or Perth, ON.
