Position Type: Contract (July 2025 – March 31, 2026)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Location: Various sites, including 7 First Nations communities and Espanola (travel required)

Professional Development: Completion of a designated course is required, including the Seniors Fitness Instructor Program if not already certified.

Job Summary:

The Elders Wellness Coordinator will play a critical role in promoting Elders’ well-being, focusing on dementia care and overall wellness. The coordinator will deliver an 8-week program across the seven First Nations (FNs) and Espanola, supporting Elders with social, nutritional, and physical activities. Additionally, the role involves gathering feedback for program evaluation, conducting movement assessments, and providing feedback to organizations regarding The DeLIGHT Program. This role requires travel and outreach across multiple communities and the completion of specific professional development courses.

Key Responsibilities:

8-Week Dementia Wellness Program Implementation:

· Deliver the 8-week wellness program across seven First Nations and Espanola to support Elders’ cognitive, social, and physical health

· Track individual progress and provide personalized feedback throughout the program

· Promote social engagement, interaction, and social skills development among Elders

· Provide nutritional guidance to support healthy lifestyles as part of the program

Movement & Physical Assessments:

· Lead fitness and movement activities tailored to seniors, promoting physical well-being

· Conduct physical assessments to evaluate mobility and recommend supportive activities

· Complete the Seniors Fitness Instructor Program, if not already certified, to enhance skills in this area

· Work with program partners and participants to adapt the DeLIGHT program manual to include Indigenous content

Program Coordination & Partnership Development:

· Collaborate with Elders Centres and other community organizations to coordinate activities and schedules

· Partner with service providers and caregivers to ensure an integrated wellness approach

Feedback & Evaluation:

· Gather feedback from participants to assess program effectiveness and areas for improvement

· Review and provide feedback to organizations about The DeLIGHT Program to ensure continued relevance and impact

· Travel across seven First Nations communities and Espanola to deliver programming and engage with participants and caregivers

Qualifications:

· Experience working with Elders, seniors, or individuals with dementia

· Knowledge of health and wellness principles, including nutrition, social skills, and movement-based activities

· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with Elders and community partners

· Willingness to travel frequently to multiple communities

· Completion of the Seniors Fitness Instructor Program or commitment to complete it during the contract period

Education:

· High school diploma or higher

· Certification in Fitness for Seniors or similar qualifications is preferred

· Completion of professional development courses to support growth and effectiveness in the role

· Mileage and travel expenses covered as per organizational policy
