This role involves conducting Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments for frail older adults with fractures. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of nursing experience, including specific training in geriatric care. Comprehensive induction and ongoing development opportunities are provided.

The Elderly Care Orthopaedic Nurse team at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Gartnavel General Hospital is looking to expand.
We seek a Registered Nurse with at least 3 years of experience, including 2 years in a relevant specialty. Evidence of further education such as postgraduate certification or ongoing professional development in relevant areas is required.
The post involves working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) to older adults presenting with fractures and identified as frail. Responsibilities include facilitating CGA within orthopaedic wards, supporting consultant-led Older People's liaison ward rounds, and ensuring safe transfer and appropriate onward referral of patients requiring further assessment and rehabilitation within Geriatric Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (GORU) wards at GGH.
You will also provide orthopaedic support and act as a liaison within the GGH site, coordinating with orthopaedic consultants to review patients and minimize unnecessary transfers. As part of CGA, you will support patient discharge processes, including screening, referrals, and involving patients and families. You will serve as an expert resource, advising team members as needed.
The ECON team operates over 7 days, with shifts from 07:15 to 15:30. New appointments will receive comprehensive induction and ongoing development opportunities within the Older People's Services teams.
