BWXT Canada is seeking a seasoned Director of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Regulatory Affairs to join our Commercial Operations team. This strategic leadership role offers national impact, ideal for a senior EHS professional with deep regulatory knowledge in the Canadian nuclear sector.

About The Role

Reporting directly to the President, Commercial Operations, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of EHS, Human Performance, and regulatory compliance programs across BWXT’s Canadian sites. The position offers flexible work location options, with hybrid flexibility, from our Cambridge or Peterborough offices.

You will serve as the primary liaison with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and other agencies, ensuring compliance while promoting safety culture and sustainability. The role includes managing a team and working cross-functionally with leadership and external stakeholders to drive performance and risk reduction.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight: Define and execute long-term EHS and Regulatory Strategy, promote safety culture, and oversee compliance standards.
  2. Regulatory Affairs & Compliance: Manage CNSC communications, monitor regulatory changes, oversee submissions, and represent BWXT in public and government forums.
  3. Operational Support & Risk Mitigation: Lead audits, incident investigations, and ensure EHS risk controls are integrated into operations.
  4. Environmental & Sustainability Leadership: Oversee environmental programs, drive sustainability initiatives, and liaise with regulators.
  5. Training & Performance Management: Develop training programs, establish KPIs, and deliver executive reports.
  6. Security & Corporate Coordination: Coordinate security and safety programs with US and Canadian leadership.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in relevant fields.
  • 10–15+ years in EHS and regulatory affairs, preferably in nuclear/high-hazard industries.
  • Deep knowledge of Canadian nuclear/environmental regulations.
  • Leadership experience in multi-site operations.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills.
  • Professional designations (CRSP, CIH, CSP) preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%, including US and Canadian sites.
Security Clearance

The role requires successful completion of security clearance, which may take up to 12 months.
