Job summary

Bunge in Ste. Agathe, Manitoba, is seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and continuously improve our plant’s EHS programs.

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will drive safety-first cultural initiatives, partner with corporate teams, and ensure regulatory compliance across environmental permits and local regulations. The role focuses on preventing serious injuries, investigating incidents, training staff, and guiding leaders at all levels in EHS best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in OHS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of three years of EHS experience in an industrial setting.
• Proven track record implementing EHS programs and reducing Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) risks.
• Strong knowledge of environmental, occupational health and safety regulatory requirements.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
• Ability to influence and engage across all organizational levels.
• Strong facilitation, training, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of EHS programs focused on SIF and HPE reduction.
• Provide technical EHS guidance to plant leadership and employees.
• Coach, mentor and develop employees to strengthen safety leadership and promote a safety-first culture.
• Deliver and coordinate EHS training programs for employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Support the implementation of Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles, training, and tools.
• Ensure compliance with corporate EHS requirements, environmental permits, and local, provincial/state, and federal regulations.
• Conduct audits, inspections, and observations to evaluate program effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
• Investigate injuries, near misses, environmental incidents, and non-compliance events, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Partner with corporate environmental teams to support sustainability initiatives and environmental performance improvements.
• Manage fire protection, security systems, and insurance-related inspections and recommendations.
• Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate responses to environmental incidents, fires, natural disasters, injuries, and other emergencies.
• Support Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) programs where applicable.
• Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders on EHS matters.
• Lead and support local safety committees and collaborate with corporate EHS teams to drive continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as required.

A Day in the Life:

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager provides leadership and technical expertise to support a strong safety-first culture within the plant. Skills & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Minimum of three (3) years of environmental, health, and safety experience.
• Demonstrated success implementing EHS programs and driving improvements in Serious Injury and Fatality (SIF) prevention and High Potential Exposure (HPE) reduction.
• Strong knowledge of environmental, occupational health and safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experience conducting incident investigations, audits, inspections, and corrective action planning.
• Ability to influence and engage employees at all levels of the organization.
• Strong facilitation, coaching, presentation, and training skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a fast-paced industrial environment.
