Qualifications

  • 7-10 years in occupational health and safety, experience in construction, mining, or heavy equipment industries.
  • OHS legislation and industry standards knowledge.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Job description

Reporting to the EHSQ Director, the EHS Ontario Manager will assist in the development, administration, and promotion of the company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and programs. Provides direct support to Wajax branches and manages a team of Advisors in Ontario.

The Role

  • Advise managers and employees about safe work practices and safety standards and regulations.
  • Oversee and manage a team of Advisors.
  • Review all reported incidents immediately and respond where necessary to ensure incidents are managed effectively and as required.
  • Conduct formal site audits to ensure compliance with all EHS safety regulations, standards, expectations, laws, and regulations.
  • Develop and communicate H&S policies, standards and practices.
  • Recommends and implements appropriate controls for safety and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring and follow-up on key safety aspects to maintain a secure and compliant environment.
  • Manage Workers’ Compensation claims, and modified work and return to work programs.
  • Collaborate with team members on environmental, wellness, occupational health, technical training, quality.
  • Develop training programs and create detailed JHAs, LOTO sheets, and other safety initiatives as assigned.

The Candidate

Education : University Degree, Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, CRSP or related accreditation

Work Experience : 7-10 years in occupational health and safety, experience in construction, mining or heavy equipment industries

Knowledge : auditing worksites, incident investigation, developing and implementing policies and programs; OHS legislation and industry standards

Proficiency : Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
