Job description

Our client is a leader in business intelligence and analytics. Their software provides one integrated process for analyzing data from every source and gaining the predictive power to drive change at every level. You will be implementing, installing, integrating and configuring our client's BI applications for their customers. Travel up to 25% across Canada may be required.

You will:
  1. Install and configure software technology and solutions.
  2. Plan and develop core application components, with an emphasis on BI (Business Intelligence) and ETL.
  3. Complete all levels of implementation testing, QA and troubleshooting.
  4. Prepare all required documentation (specifications, design, system, training).
  5. Ensure up-to-date knowledge in industry business and technology solutions, through self-motivated approach to continuous learning.
  6. Provide presentations, internally and/or with clients, as required.
  7. Work with sales team to identify further sales opportunities.
  8. Mentor other consultants as required.
  9. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  1. Minimum 3 years software installation, integration, configuration and development experience.
  2. Consulting experience with external clients, in competitive situations (e.g., from other Independent Software Vendor or Big 4 consulting).
  3. Strong UNIX experience (from a software installation and configuration standpoint).
  4. Knowledge of and experience with:
  • One or more databases including Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, Informix, Sybase.
  • A breadth of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Linux, mainframe) and platforms (IBM, Sun, HP, Windows).
  • Client server, and multi-tier environments.
  • Connectivity issues and protocols.
  • Job scheduling and event/exception management.
  • Security, file systems, and common network practices.
  • BEA Weblogic, Websphere, J2EE, web development.
  • Metadata management and XML.
  • ETL software (Informatica, AbInitio, etc).
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • University Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
  • It will be great if you have:
    1. Data Warehouse/Mart knowledge and experience is preferred, including knowledge of common industry approaches including star schema and ‘corporate information factory’.
    2. Proficiency in SQL and Java.
    3. Knowledge of Unix shell scripting.
    4. Knowledge of or experience with BI products and tools (e.g., Cognos, Hyperion, SAS, Business Objects, Information Builders, CRM, Generation5, Microstrategy, Peregrine, Information Builders, etc).
