Duties and Responsibilities
To ensure all activities of the CSL vessels for which the First Officer (also, Chief Officer / First Mate) serves are carried out under effective Safety Management System policies and procedures.
To ensure that their areas of responsibility on the ship—including navigation, cargo, hull, and equipment—comply with Transport Canada regulations, codes of practice, or applicable standards. This description defines CSL’s expectations for the Chief Officer role.
