The Community Engagement Coordinator will lead outreach and engagement activitiesto raise awareness about Earthwise Society in the community and provide administrativesupport services to ensure the smooth functioning of the organization.
Duties and responsibilities :
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Goal : Advance the society’s profile in the community and increase active engagement
- In consultation with Executive Director, develop and implement outreach andmarketing plans to raise organizational profile
- Plan and implement community events and fundraising activities including annual100 Mile Banquet or other field to table events
- Grow and strengthen community networks, build partnerships
- Deliver presentations for community and outreach events
- Increase revenue streams from events and community engagement, includingdonations, sponsorship and fundraising activities
- Diversify and increase use of site resources for venue rentals, corporate workparties, art, yoga, and other community activities
- Increase volunteer retention, engage volunteers for event planning andimplementation
- Support human resources functions including assisting with hiring, staff engagementand retention
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Goal : Support organizational functioning of Society
- Provide general administrative support and assist with basic bookkeeping foraccounts payable / receivable and payroll, including CRA payments, T4s and ROEs
- Support tracking and reconciliation of sales
- Assist with grants, claims, and reports to funders
- Provide support for use of existing computer technology
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post-secondary education in a related field such as communications andmarketing, business or non-profit management and / or environmental studies,land and food systems, etc.
- Proven experience in community outreach and engagement, programimplementation, or similar roles, with a track record of successfully implementingexpanding community programs
- Experience in planning and executing community engagement and fundraisingevents, including community festivals and dinners
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectivelydeliver presentations and engage with diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handlemultiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Networking savvy, with the ability to build and maintain relationships withcommunity organizations and stakeholders
- Familiarity or experience with gardening, therapeutic horticulture, environmentalissues, or food security is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of fundraising strategies and experience in securing donationsand sponsorships
Terms :
This is a full-time position 35 hours per week from April - November 2024, (exact datesto be determined) paid at the rate of $24 / hour.
This position includes a combination ofon-site and remote work. The position may be extended or renewed based on aperformance review and the continued availability of funding.
