Responsibilities
Reporting to the Support Shops Supervisor, the Support Shops Technician (Mechanical) is responsible for completing a variety of maintenance tasks on Vehicle and Vehicle subsystem components. This includes undertaking repairs, modifications, troubleshooting, overhauls and testing. The scope of the work includes mechanical components for vehicles and may include equipment from fixed facilities and / or wayside systems.
Qualifications
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Red Seal Certification in one of the following trades : Heavy Duty Mechanic, Commercial Transport Mechanic, or Automotive Mechanic.
The following trade : AME-M may also be considered.
Minimum of five (5) years' recent related mechanical maintenance experience at the Red Seal / Journeyperson Level, preferably in rail transportation.
Experience in troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of mechanical components and equipment and the use of associated test equipment.
Valid BC class 5 Driver's License.
Other Information
Recruitment Process : An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Rate of Pay
Wage : $59.69 per hour
Please note : All new employees will be subject to a 6-week trainee rate at 75% of the hourly rate with the remainder of the first year at 90% of the hourly rate.
