A leading educational institution in Cape Breton seeks a French Second Language Literacy Mentor to enhance literacy practices in classrooms. The role involves collaboration with teachers and students, focusing on the Neurolinguistic Approach. Candidates should have a valid Nova Scotia Teacher’s Certificate and a strong background in FSL instruction. This position aims to foster professional growth and improve student learning outcomes.
TheCape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education is responsible for the administration of the public school system within the boundaries of Cape Breton and Victoria Counties, supporting approximately 12,000 students in 38 schools.

Qualifications:
A. Valid Nova Scotia Teacher’s Certificate;
B. Minimum five (5) years recent (within the last 7 years), successful teaching experience in French Second Language instruction;
C. Leadership experience at the school, regional, and provincial level, with teaching initiatives, specifically the Neurolinguistic Approach; Please provide details in your application.
D. Trained in the Neurolinguistic Approach; OPI assessment training; Intensive French training.
E. Completed OPI language assessment - Superior Level. (If you do not have an OPI completed in the past two years, please contact Suzanne Aucoin).
F. Experience in using assistive technology and innovative teaching initiatives to enhance student learning in all FSL programs.
G. Think SRSD training required.

FRENCH LITERACY COACH
Scope of Responsibilities
The French Second Language Literacy Mentor will work in classrooms with teachers and students to facilitate the integration of best literacy practices, drawing upon the principles of the Neurolinguistic Approach for French as a Second Language (FSL). Their role will extend beyond support, encompassing leadership and fostering professional growth in the realm of FSL education. Through collaborative efforts with FSL educators, the Literacy Mentor will demonstrate a strong commitment to student success plans that support student learning and well-being. Reporting directly to the Coordinator of FSL Programs, and in coordination with the FSL Consultant and School Principals, this position serves as a pivotal link in advancing FSL pedagogy and enriching learning environments.
