Position Overview

The Enhanced Support Resource Teacher plays a crucial role in designing and delivering comprehensive resource programs for students with significant developmental, social, and behavioral challenges. The teacher must be licensed and have experience and dedication to program planning for students with complex needs.

Qualifications

  • A valid Nova Scotia Teachers License;
  • Successful teaching and/or work experience with students with significant needs.

Responsibilities

  • Complete EA scheduling, direct EAs in daily tasks, and collaborate to solve challenges with students and staff;
  • Manage students with complex behaviors, implementing appropriate teaching strategies and programming;
  • Develop Behavior Intervention Plans and Safety Plans collaboratively with Student Services staff;
  • Make effective decisions;
  • Plan community outings aligned with students' IPP goals;
  • Facilitate debriefings and collaborative meetings with staff;
  • Communicate effectively with parents and facilitate meetings with parents/Student Planning Teams;
  • Create, instruct, assess, and report on individualized student programs;
  • Problem-solve complex situations and behaviors;
  • Collaborate with departments and partners such as Student Services, Transportation, and Community Organizations;
  • Implement inclusive education policies and the MTSS framework within the ESP program.
