The Merchant Data Platform is a backend, foundational service at Affirm. We are responsible for merchant data and identity across all merchant touchpoints. Our checkout-critical platform serves millions of requests per day, supports merchant onboarding across all touchpoints, and maintains strict availability and latency SLAs due to its critical nature. Additionally, the team maintains sophisticated pipelines that enrich datasets for merchant identification, risk analysis, and fraud detection.

What We Look For

1. Experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale, with proficiency in Python or Kotlin.
2. Familiarity with distributed systems components, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
3. Ability to translate simple problems into solutions involving multiple software components, with clear, well-tested, extensible code.
4. Comfort navigating large codebases, debugging, and providing code review feedback.
5. Ownership of personal growth, seeking feedback proactively.
6. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration within a global team.
7. Either equivalent practical experience or a related Bachelor’s degree.

Equity Grade - 4

Base pay ranges from $102,000 to $142,000 annually, with additional benefits and potential equity rewards. Affirm offers a transparent pay structure considering location, experience, and skills.
