Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Manager, Linen Services, the incumbent is responsible for assembling ward carts on a daily basis and accounting for all linen delivered to and returned from the wards. Sews and mends a variety of uniforms and specialty linen items. Tracks uniform inventory and submits orders as needed. Receives linen and ensures order is correct. Takes telephone and written requests for uniforms, issues to Health Sciences Centre (HSC) employees, determines cost and prepares customer bill. Assesses HSC linen requirements and interacts with supplier WRHA Laundry Operations to obtain necessary linen. Assists with other assignments as required by the Manager, Linen Services.

Experience
  • Previous related experience in line production for linen distribution service required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Minimum grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, required.

Qualifications and Skills
  • Must acquire a knowledge of operating room linen within the probation/trial period.
  • Basic sewing skills required.
  • The ability to do simple mathematical calculations is required.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, writing and reading English.
Physical Requirements
  • Incumbent is required to stand, walk, reach, bend, lift, stretch, push and pull for sustained periods.
  • Required to move cages that may exceed 1000 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, lift and carry 25 lb. linen bags and operate a thermo seal machine.
