Position: Rossland Summit School
  • 875 FTE Student Support Teacher (SST), Math, PE, and Core French Teacher

Temporary: September 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026

Qualifications
  • BC Certification
  • Bachelor of Education with a focus on Special Education or equivalent training, including coursework in:
    • Students with diverse abilities and disabilities, including students with ASD
    • Assessment/testing theory and practice
    • Strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum to meet diverse needs
  • Previous teaching experience in Special Education at the elementary level (preferred: successful elementary teaching experience)
  • Expertise in teaching and behavioral management strategies, including social skills development
  • Knowledge of evaluating and selecting instructional materials for diverse needs
  • Experience in behavior support planning and safety plan implementation
  • Ability to collaborate with classroom teachers and outside agencies
  • Understanding of child and youth mental health issues
  • Competence in assessments, including classroom observation and diagnostic teaching methods
  • Ability to develop and evaluate IEPs collaboratively
  • Experience with Woodcock Johnson IV Achievement Test battery (formal training required)
  • Proficiency with computer-based learning and assistive software (e.g., G Suite, Moodle, Boardmaker)
  • Ability to facilitate use of the school's Sensory Lab
  • Experience supervising Educational Assistants/Child Care Workers
  • Understanding of inclusion principles and supporting an inclusive school community
  • Ability to support, co-teach, and collaborate in an inclusive classroom
  • Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills

The annual salary ranges from $60,337 to $111,450, based on experience and qualifications, in accordance with the collective agreement.
