ZAS is currently seeking an Architectural Graduate or Intermediate level Interior Designer to join our Toronto office and grow with us. Current and prospective projects are almost exclusively commercial / institutional tenant improvements. For an intermediate candidate, we offer unique opportunities to develop skills in client relationships, team management, site work, and business development.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will contribute to the design development of projects and produce drawings accurately and on time. You should be able to work independently on specific tasks and as part of a project team. Your duties will include producing drawings and documents as directed by team leaders, covering all project phases. Work may involve graphic and presentation tasks, as well as general project organization and filing. We expect you to ask questions, communicate effectively with team members, and organize your work to meet goals.

Skills Required

The ideal candidate will be a graduate from a CIDA-accredited (or equivalent) post-secondary institution with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design. We seek a talented, well-rounded individual who enjoys both design and technical aspects of Interior Design and Architecture. Strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are essential attributes.

To qualify for this position, you need to possess:

  • Residence within commuting distance to downtown Toronto, ON.
  • Strong design, graphic, and presentation skills, including translating ideas from concept to detailed drawings.
  • At least 5 years of post-graduation experience in a Canadian architectural office environment.
  • Experience in significant project phases from concept through completion.
  • Experience and interest in tenant improvements.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2018 (or above) and Revit software.
  • Excellent understanding of ON Building Code, Toronto Building Code Bylaws, and basic building envelope concepts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, incorporating feedback effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work within project constraints.
  • A desire to gain real-world skills beneficial for your career development.

Our ideal candidate may be an Architectural Graduate with a Master's Degree in Architecture or an Interior Designer from a CIDA-accredited (or equivalent) institution with a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design.
