Job description

Position Summary:

Modern Workplace Engineer designs, implements, and manages technologies that enable a modern, often cloud-based, workplace, focusing on Microsoft solutions like Intune, Azure, and Office 365, while ensuring user experience and security.


Key Responsibilities and Skills:
Microsoft Technologies:
  1. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 solutions including hybrid environment (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive), Azure Active Directory, On Prem Active Directory, Intune, and Configuration Manager (SCCM) is crucial.
Endpoint Management:
  1. Managing and supporting Windows 10/11-based devices, including deployment, patching, application management, and security.
Cloud Migration and Modernization:
  1. Assisting in transitioning to cloud-based services and modernizing their workplace infrastructure.
Security:
  1. Implementing and enforcing security policies, protecting data, and mitigating risks in the modern workplace environment.
Troubleshooting and Support:
  1. Providing technical support and resolving issues related to modern workplace technologies.
Automation and Scripting:
  1. Using scripting and automation tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Documentation and Communication:
  1. Creating and maintaining documentation, policies, and procedures for modern workplace technologies.
Collaboration:
  1. Working with other IT team members, stakeholders, and end-users to deliver solutions and ensure a positive user experience.
Project Management:
  1. Participating in planning, design, and delivery of IT initiatives related to the modern workplace.
Continuous Improvement:
  1. Identifying areas for improvement and driving initiatives to enhance the quality and effectiveness of workplace technologies.
Education / Experience:
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science or 2 years of relevant college coursework required. Additional experience may substitute for education.
  2. 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience.
Skills & Knowledge:
  1. Desktop Management:
    1. Deep understanding of desktop management tools and techniques.
  2. Endpoint Security:
    1. Knowledge of endpoint security aspects and best practices.
  3. System Administration:
    1. Strong Microsoft system administration and troubleshooting skills.
    2. VMWare knowledge is an asset.
    3. Network architecture and configurations is an asset.
  4. Excellent verbal and written abilities.
  5. Ability to converse clearly and fluently.
  6. Customer service and team oriented.
  7. Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  8. Strong organization skills.
  9. Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  10. Highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.
  11. Ability to analyze, understand, and effectively communicate to end users and management.
  12. Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
Standard Hours of Work:
  1. Common work schedule is Monday through Friday - 8:30am to 5:00pm.
  2. Working off hours on site or remotely required.
