Reporting to the Manager, District Sales, the Store Manager 4 is responsible for the operation of a Liquor Mart that provides excellence in customer service by meeting the beverage alcohol needs of its customers. The Store Manager 4 is also responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable legislation/law as well as Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries’ policies and objectives while actively demonstrating the organization’s core values. The incumbent ensures courteous, helpful, and socially responsible customer service in a safe, secure and clean environment, with an expanded product selection that is attractively merchandised.
Responsibilities

- Ensure all applicable compliance, regulations, policies, procedures, practices, and corporate and social responsibility principles are understood, supported and adhered to by all employees.
- Coach and inspire the assistant managers to work as a cohesive team in the coaching and development of the store employees and delegate tasks equitably among the management team.
- Analyze customer needs based on customer feedback, ensuring corrective action is taken when required.
- Ensure store environment is customer friendly, professional, and in accordance with merchandising standards and practices.
- Ensure all customers are greeted within an appropriate time frame and are offered assistance according to established criteria.
- Manage overall customer service with appropriate scheduling that ensures proper sales floor coverage, plans for inventory management, and includes time to clearly communicate expectations to all staff on shift.
- Act as a subject matter expert in corporate operating policy & procedures and handle customer complaints; keeping senior management informed and escalating issues as required.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders (includes vendors, licensees, and customers).

- Managing upwards through regular discussions with Manager, District Sales to provide feedback on initiatives and provide perspective and consideration for the impact of policy or communications generates for Liquor Mart staff.
- Responsible forthe implementation and management of key performance indicators (KPI’s).
- Manage key performance indicators (KPI’s) through analytics and develop and implement action plans with management team, when required, to achieve goals. Communicate action plans to staff to ensure their commitment to achieving them.
- Approve the store schedule within assigned store labour hours budgets.
- Participate in the development of the annual budget and manage within the established budget.
- Demonstrate an understanding of MBLL’s strategic framework and communicate this to staff.
- Approve action plans before they are sent to senior management and ensure they are being implemented properly to managethe store effectively.

- Manage all financial and inventory management functions utilizing established retail procedures and auditing best practices, ensuring assistant managers and acting staff are trained and able to perform the required activities.
- Ensure staff is aware of operating policies and procedures regarding cash handling, cash levels, internal security and shoplifting, as well as employing appropriate measures to control shrinkage.
- Manage stock shrinkage goal as a percentage of sales.
- Take responsibility for the audit practices in the store and ensure that compliance and actions taken to address risks identified through internal audit reviews are actioned and reported in a timely manner.
- Respond to emergencies and take appropriate actions to minimize safety impacts, business interruptions and revenue loss.
- Ensure MBLL assets are secure.
- Ensure risk management principles are applied.
- Communicate all required duties and responsibilities of compliance outlined under provincial safety and health legislation by establishing, documenting and enforcing safe work practices/procedures.
- Orient and train employees in safe work practices including the functionality and responsibilities associated with controlled entries.
- Ensure proper usage of the CCTV system is within the scope of responsibility of the staff accessing the equipment and all logs are updated timely.
- Participate on committees and project teams/programs as required.
- Perform all other duties of a Store Manager 3.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary education (e.g., business administration/management) including management, sales and marketing, and computer software courses.
- Five years full time retail experience in a supervisory capacity and experience managing in a unionized environment would be an asset.
- Additional knowledge that must be gained to be fully functional in the position includes: product knowledge to the Higher Wine level; working knowledge of POS; a functional knowledge of the Liquor and Gaming Control Act as it pertains to the sale of alcohol and occasional permits; a functional knowledge of MBLL’s departments/programs, policies and procedures, and the collective agreement.

- Satisfactory work performance in the preceding twelve (12) months is a requirement. Attendance rate will be a factor in the pre-screening process.
Secondary Qualifications
- Bilingual (French/English) language skills.
