Job Overview:

Responsible for providing clear and timely regulatory input to R&D, QA, Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams for innovation projects and existing product changes, ensuring full compliance with Canadian and international regulations. The role requires in-depth knowledge of applicable regulations and collaboration with cross-functional teams to achieve business success, considering regulatory risks, opportunities, constraints, and future changes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and improve procedures and testing programs related to regulatory requirements for ingredients and finished products.
  • Coordinate with PD, Procurement, Supply Chain, and QA teams to ensure timely testing of ingredients and products.
  • Provide information for food safety and regulatory audits.
  • Proactively update and maintain processes to meet regulatory requirements for ingredients and products.
  • Model leadership competencies by fostering a positive work environment and culture through effective administration of People Processes and Tools.
  • Manage performance by ensuring proper onboarding, coaching, development, and corrective actions.
  • Handle talent and succession planning by filling vacancies with integrity.
  • Ensure completion of required compliance training.
  • Promote employee engagement through relationship building and action plan execution.
  • Ensure all ingredients and products adhere to policies at certification and processing levels.
  • Maintain compliance tools and update policies to support successful product launches.
  • Collaborate with ingredient suppliers to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Stay informed on new laws and regulations affecting ingredients via courses, webinars, and agency websites.
  • Participate in team learnings and inform the team of emerging risks impacting labeling and regulations.
  • Assist in regulatory consultations and provide feedback on upcoming regulatory changes.
The Recipe for Success:
  • Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or a related field.
  • 7 years in the Food Manufacturing industry.
  • 5 years in a Regulatory Affairs role.
  • Certificate in Food Labelling, Regulatory Affairs, or Food Law.
  • Strong knowledge of food labeling and advertising regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership skills to guide Regulatory Affairs professionals towards common goals.
