The Senior Manager, IFRS 9, Credit Risk Provisions & Analytics leads and oversees IFRS 9 for International Commercial Banking as part of the Credit Risk Provisions & Analytics team within Scotiabank Global Risk Management. The role ensures that business strategies, plans, and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
  1. Lead and foster a customer-focused culture to enhance relationships and communication with countries across the Bank’s international footprint regarding ACL/PCL.
  2. Provide credit risk analytics and insights on Expected Credit Loss (ECL) and Provision for Credit Loss (PCL) to internal clients, including Executive Offices, Finance, Business lines, Countries, and Global Risk Management executives.
  3. Understand key components of IFRS 9 models such as PD, LGD, EAD, and macroeconomic factors, and continuously seek to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the ECL calculator.
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain and enhance the IFRS 9 end-to-end process, including project planning, data reconciliation, model implementation, control processes, governance, and reporting.
  5. Apply specialized knowledge of ECL methodology to ensure the adequacy of IFRS 9 provisions reported in external disclosures.
  6. Work with internal teams such as Internal Ratings Management, Enterprise Stress Testing, IT & Systems, local Credit and Finance teams, and Enterprise Risk Management to improve ECL methodology.

  • A Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Professional qualifications such as CFA, FRM, or PRM are advantageous.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python and SQL.
  • Knowledge of Credit Risk, IFRS 9, and CECL regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working on projects and managing multiple priorities.
